The Creation Process

Hot Marble

Utilizing a small portion of your pet's ashes, these custom-made art glass creations become elegant pendants, keychains or sculptures that will bring you comfort for years to come.

Lampworking, the technique used here at the Gray Parrot Glass Studio, is glassworking that uses a torch to melt and shape hot glass. Although this art form has been practiced since ancient times, it flowered in Murano , Italy , in the 1300s, and then spread throughout Europe.

Gray Parrot Glass Studio has been teaching and producing glass lampwork art using Italian effetre glass since 1996. All of the glass used for the handcrafted glass memorial keepsakes is imported directly from Italy . Fine silver foil and goldstone are used to give the marbles and beads an earthy, organic look.

The final ingredient of your glass memorial is the cremains of your departed companion. Ash incorporates well with the Italian glass, as soda ash is a key component in the composition of glass. All cremains will be handled with the utmost respect and care. Unused ashes will be returned to you in the original container. Strict studio procedures are followed to ensure that all orders are kept separate, thus preserving the integrity of each order.
